Tomato plants need to be gradually acclimatised to outside conditions before they are planted in the containers or growing bags. Start them off with a few hours outside and slowly increase that time over the next two weeks. Read our full description of this process

May week 4.FIRST THINNING OF BEETROOT
Beetroot is one of those vegetables which taste much better when they are small. When thinning your beetroot seedlings think “baby beet” and allow only 7cm / 3in between seedlings. If you leave only 4cm between seedlings, harvest every other baby beetroot when they start getting crowded in about a month’s time.SECOND SOWING OF BEETROOT

SOW MORE LETTUCE SEEDS

THIN LETTUCE SEEDLINGS

THIRD SOWING OF SPRING ONIONS
Sow your spring onions thinly and cover with a sprinkling of soil, water if the conditions are dry. Staggered sowing of spring onions will extend the cropping season.
