RAISED BED AND CONTAINER WEEKLY DIARY
WEEK 3 IN APRIL
Article by David Marks.
WEEKLY FEEDING
Our suggestions on feeding for raised beds can be found here. We are often asked if different vegetables in the same raised bed need to be fed differently. For example, in normal ground some vegetables benefit from a nitrogen feed whereas others benefit from a tomato type feed. The problem with raised beds is they cover such a small area that it makes different feeding regimes ineffective. However, the most important point is to provide SOME feeding at the least. Our suggestion of a twice yearly feed of blood, fish and bone should give the basic nutrients to all vegetables. Following that up in the growing season with a liquid feed of general purpose fertiliser will keep the nutrients topped up sufficiently. If you have large raised beds and believe you can feed individual types of vegetable differently according to their specific needs then we have created a summary of the feeding needs for specific vegetables.
