Can I plant a forsythia near my house for screening or will the root grow to big and damage the house foundations
ANSWER: Forsythia aren’t known for having invasive roots but ever situation is different. Don’tplant it too near your house, allow enough distance for it to receive a good supply of rain water. |

ANSWER: I think the chances of success with a large 50 year old shrub are small but I’ve never tried. One major problem will be root damage combined with water loss. Shock will also be a factor. Without a doubt this is probably the worst time of year to attempt such a move. If you do attempt to move it, do it when it is dormant and the leaves have fallen.
You stand a far better chance of taking a cutting or layering. Forsythia are very easy to propagate.
